FAQ: Everything You Need to Know
FAQ Questions fréquemment posées
Who is Tissu Nature?
Tissu Nature is an online shop founded in 2025 in Treyvaux, in the canton of Fribourg. It is run by Dugué Atelier 81 (sole proprietorship) and was created by Mireille and Greg.We import our ready-to-dye natural fabrics directly from India from Green-Taylor, the company of Laura Chantebel and Mayank, who also founded the French brand Fibre Bio. We sell our fabrics (GOTS-certified organic cotton, linen, silk, wool) by the metre from 50 cm to sewists, dyers and craftspeople in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.Properties and composition are given on each product page. Certificates (GOTS, OEKO-TEX) are available on request.
Why did you create this shop?
It all began with Mireille's wish to dye fabrics with plants. When ordering from France, the price almost doubled because of customs charges – that is how the idea of selling directly in Switzerland, without customs costs, was born.
Who are your products for?
For all sewing enthusiasts, artists and craftspeople who want to work with ethical materials: plant dyeing, natural sewing, zero-waste projects and responsible craft.
What types of fabric do you sell?

Are your fabrics suitable for plant dyeing?

Do you offer samples?

How do I care for natural silk fabric?
Silk is a delicate fibre that needs a few simple precautions. Whether it is wild silk, silk chiffon or silk velvet, it is best washed by hand in cold or lukewarm water (30 °C at most). Use a mild soap free of enzymes and bleach.Do not wring it out: gently press the water out in a terry towel and let the fabric dry flat, away from direct light. Iron on a low heat on the wrong side of the fabric, ideally while it is still slightly damp.If you are unsure how to care for a particular fabric, we (Mireille in particular) will be happy to advise you on WhatsApp (+41 79 212 86 42) or by email
How do I pre-wash a fabric before cutting and sewing?
Pre-washing is essential before any cutting, whatever the material. Natural fabrics – GOTS organic cotton, natural linen, organic cotton double gauze – tend to shrink a little in the first wash. If you pre-wash your fabric under the same conditions in which you will wash it later (temperature, programme), you avoid unpleasant surprises on the finished piece. Depending on the material, let it dry flat or in the tumble dryer, and iron it before cutting. For silk, pre-washing is usually not necessary if you will later wash it by hand. We will gladly advise you.
Which natural fabrics suit sensitive skin and babies?
For sensitive skin or for the very young, the choice of material is crucial. Our GOTS-certified organic cotton is grown without pesticides or synthetic chemicals, which makes it ideal for clothing and baby items.A particular favourite is our organic cotton double gauze: soft, breathable and machine washable. Our linen (OEKO-TEX certificate on request) is also an excellent choice for adults with sensitive skin.Planning a project for a baby or for someone with allergies? Please contact us on WhatsApp (+41 79 212 86 42) or through our contact page. We will recommend the right fabrics.
What is GOTS certification and why does it matter?
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the world's strictest organic certification for textiles. It guarantees that the fabric was made from organically produced natural fibres, without pesticides or synthetic chemicals – along the entire production chain, from growing the plant to making the fabric. At Tissu Nature, our organic cotton is GOTS-certified; the certificates are held by our suppliers and are available on request. Choosing a GOTS-certified fabric means choosing a healthy material – for you and for the people who wear it – and fair working conditions for the producers.
What is the difference between GOTS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100?
The two certifications complement each other, but they do not guarantee exactly the same thing.GOTS certifies the entire organic production process, from growing the fibre to the finished product: it is a certification of the whole supply chain. OEKO-TEX Standard 100, on the other hand, confirms that the end product contains no substances harmful to health, whether or not it is organic. At Tissu Nature, our organic cotton is GOTS-certified, which covers the whole production chain, and our linen is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, which makes it safe for sensitive skin. Certificates are available on request.
Where do your fabrics come from and who are your suppliers?
We import our natural fabrics directly from India from Green-Taylor, an ethical company with which we have a relationship of trust.Laura Chantebel and Mayank run Green-Taylor and also founded the French brand Fibre Bio. They share our values around natural, ethical and sustainable textiles. Thanks to this short supply chain (Green-Taylor, then Tissu Nature), we can state the origin of every fabric precisely: the origin of the fibres and of the weaving is given on the product pages.
